Limerick

These are my Limericks I did these for fun and I learnt what limericks actually were.  I did these by thinking of rhyming words and put them all together but you can only have five lines. I had to put in pictures on one and made sure it was funny. A Limerick is when the first, second and Fifth rhyme and the third and fourth ones rhyme.

  1. Hi Xanthe, These are good limericks, did you enjoy doing these? Do you have any more to share?

  2. Kia ora Xanthe,
Well done on creating such an excellent post about limericks! When I first read the title of your post, I was a little bit confused as to what a limerick was because I had never heard that phrase before. However after looking through your poems and reading your description, I immediately understood, so thank you for both explaining and providing examples of these fantastic poems!
My personal favourite out of all your examples is the limerick on the third slide.
‘They woke up early in the morning
Some thought the walk was boring
    They stopped for some food
Some were not in the mood
    So they started yawning’
    I thought this was very clever and funny, and it reminded me of a poem I read when I was younger;
    ‘It’s raining, it’s pouring
    The old man is snoring
    He bumped his head
On the end of his bed
And couldn’t get up in the morning’
It’s a bit crazy to think how I have said that poem my whole life, and am now only learning that it was written in a specific style (in this case- limerick).
Thank you for creating this blogpost, and sharing this information with all of your viewers!
On your fourth slide, you mentioned how the perfume smelt nice like fried rice!
If you had a perfume that smelt like fried rice, would you wear it?
    Why/why not?
You also mentioned on your sixth slide how your sister likes slime. Have you ever had a go at making slime yourselves?
If so, how did it turn out?
    Keep up the fantastic work!
    Nga mihi
